The Vancouver Acromegaly Support Group ('VASG') was established in 2013, and is based out of Vancouver, British Columbia. The support group was created by acromegaly patient Deanna Badiuk who felt a need to provide better information and support for those that have been diagnosed with acromegaly.
The primary goal of the support group is to educate people that have Acromegaly. To support each other. Have guest speakers in to talk to us and create more awareness about this rare condition.
In the last 2 years we have had a Nutritionist, Endocrinologist, Psychologist and the Division Head of Clinical Chemistry at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver as guest speakers. To date we have 32 members that are actively involved with the support group. This support group is for all Acromegaly patients and we do not restrict patient intake to BC as patients from Alberta and Saskatchewan are more than welcome which is why we have named this site 'Western Acromegaly'
Meetings are held twice a year on Saturday afternoons. (Spring and Fall).
